BC Back Bear Hunt

Back in May of 2014, I traveled to British Columbia to hunt black bear with Abe Dougan at Big Boar Outfitters. The hunt took place the Stave River drainage, northeast of Vancouver. My guide was Andy Klein. Andy is a topnotch guide with years of experience, hunting both BC and the Yukon. The hunting area was and is some of the most beautiful glaciated terrain that I have ever seen. The bear in the picture is truly a magnificent animal. He squared 8 feet, was 67 inches in girth and weighed over 750 pound. This is huge for a spring bear! Jack Reneau, the Director of Big Game Records at Boone and Crockett, officially scored this bear at 20 5/16.
